‘Moon Magic’

Watercolour, digital painting and photography.

I enjoy experimenting with a combination of media.  Used together they represent what I see when I look at a scene – physical reality blending with an inner picture of the image I’d like to create.

‘Labyrinth Dreamer’

Acrylic and photography

Labyrinths are one of my favourite subjects to paint.  So is Glastonbury Tor.  For these I’ve used acrylic.  And there’s a connection between them – it is believed that the paths cut into the sides of the Tor form a seven-circuit labyrinth.

‘Star and Stone’

Mixed media

When I look at a sky glittering with stars I think of infinity and the intangible, contrasting with the earthly solidity of the megaliths.

‘Gateway’

Acrylic.

Transformation and new beginnings are my theme in this painting, inspired by the iconic Glastonbury Tor and its traditions.  Ridges carved into the sides of the Tor form paths that can be walked as a seven-circuit labyrinth.  The Tor is also believed to be a gateway to the Otherworld.

‘She had a Horror of Rooms’

Gouache

The title is a line from David Bowie’s ‘Scary Monsters, Super Creeps’ which inspired it.

‘She had a horror of rooms

She was tired, you can’t hide beat

And when I looked in her eyes they were blue, but nobody home

She could’ve been a killer if she didn’t walk the way she do, and she do

She opened strange doors that we’d never close again.’
